FAQ

The five things people ask before their first board.

What is photo bingo?

A bingo board where the squares are things you do, not numbers. Each square is a challenge — “karaoke ballad”, “sunrise swim” — and you claim it by posting a photo or video as proof. When the board ends, every photo unlocks and the whole thing becomes a shared album.

Is SideQuest free?

Yes — completely free. Any board, any number of players, no time limit, no watermark and no subscription. Running an event and want a board with your own logo and colours? Email us and we'll set it up.

Do my friends need to download the app?

No. The board opens from a link in any browser — there is nothing to install, and hosts play in the browser too. Everyone signs in once with an email code or Google so their photos are theirs. The iOS app is for people who want notifications and a faster camera, not a requirement to play.

Do I need an account to host?

Yes — one sign-in, with a six-digit email code or Google. That is what makes the board yours, so you can invite people, end it and keep the album. There is nothing to download, and no card at any point.

How is this different from a photo scavenger hunt?

A scavenger hunt is a list. This is a board with a lock on it: you can't see anyone else's photos for a square until you've posted your own. That's what stops half the group lurking, and it's why everyone ends up with an album instead of one person with 400 photos.

Who can see my photos?

Only the people in your board. Boards are private by default — photos are visible to players, they unlock to the group at the finale, and nothing is public unless you choose to share the board.
