Privacy, terms and how to reach us
Short version: your photos belong to you and your board, we don't sell anything about you, and you can delete a board and everything in it whenever you like.

What we store. A board, its squares, the photos players claim them with, and the display name each player types when they join. That's the whole list.
Who can see your photos. Only the players on that board. Photos stay locked until a player claims the same square, then unlock to the board at the finale. Nothing on a board is public unless the host shares the board link, and boards are never indexed by search engines.
Accounts. Players don't need one. Joining takes a link and a name. If you create boards regularly you can add an email so your boards follow you between devices.
Deletion. A host can delete a board at any time, which deletes every photo on it. Any player can delete their own photos. Deleted boards are removed from backups within 30 days.
What we don't do. We don't sell data, we don't run ads, we don't train models on your photos, and we don't share anything with third parties beyond the hosting and image storage needed to run the boards.

1. Who We Are
SideQuest (“we”, “us”), operated via sidequest.bingo and the SideQuest mobile app, is a social photo-bingo app and is the data controller responsible for your personal data. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have, whether you use SideQuest on the web or on your device.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information — such as your name/handle and the identifier from your sign-in method (e.g. Sign in with Apple).
- Photos & videos — the content you upload to complete bingo squares and the boards you participate in.
- Usage data — basic activity needed to operate the game (boards joined, squares completed, reactions) and limited technical/diagnostic data.
- Device & app data — limited technical information such as device type, app version, and crash diagnostics, used to keep the app working and secure.
- Purchase information — where you make a purchase, the app store processes the payment and shares limited transaction status with us; we do not receive your full payment-card details.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and operate the Service: creating boards, displaying your content to other players, running the game mechanics, processing purchases, providing support, preventing abuse, complying with legal obligations, and improving the app.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on the basis of: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you sign up for), your consent (where we ask for it, such as optional features), our legitimate interests (keeping the app secure and improving it), and compliance with legal obligations.
5. Third Parties
We share data with service providers only as needed to run the app:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and media storage hosting.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple and In-App Purchases (IAP). Purchase transactions are processed by Apple under its own terms.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data and content while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate operational needs (e.g. fraud prevention, purchase records).
7. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — such as encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
You can access and update your information in the app. You may delete your account at any time using the in-app Delete Account option, which removes your profile and associated content as described above. Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. GDPR/CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your data — contact us to exercise them.
9. Children's Privacy
SideQuest is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.

It's free. Every board is free right now — any number of players, no time limit and no watermark. Nothing is for sale, so nothing can be charged to you. If we introduce paid options later we'll say so plainly before anything costs money, and branded boards for events are arranged by email in the meantime.
Your photos are yours. You keep the rights to everything you upload. You give us permission to store it and show it to the other players on that board, and nothing else. We never use board photos in marketing.
House rules. Don't claim squares with anything illegal, don't upload photos of people who asked you not to, and don't use a board to harass anyone. Hosts can remove a player or a photo at any time; we remove boards that break these rules.
Hosts are responsible for their boards. If you write your own squares, they're yours — including whether they're a good idea. Hosts of branded and event boards are responsible for what their attendees post.
Availability. We aim to keep boards up during your event and to hold photos for twelve months after a board closes. Download the album if you want a permanent copy.

1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of SideQuest (the “Service”), whether you access it through the website at sidequest.bingo or through the SideQuest mobile app. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use SideQuest, and you confirm that you are not located in a country subject to an applicable embargo and not on any prohibited-parties list. SideQuest is a social app that hosts user-generated content (photos and videos). If required in your jurisdiction, you confirm you have parental or guardian consent.
When you create an account you agree to provide accurate information, keep your login credentials confidential, and choose a strong password. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You may not register accounts using bots, you may hold only one account unless we agree otherwise, and you may not share your account with others.

3. Licence to Use SideQuest
We grant you a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable licence to use the Service on the web and on supported devices, solely for its intended personal, non-commercial purpose and in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or attempt to access the source code of the Service, nor resell, reproduce, or otherwise commercially exploit it without our express written permission.
4. Your Content & Licence
You retain ownership of the photos, videos, and other content you submit (“User Content”). By submitting User Content you grant SideQuest a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute it within the Service for the purpose of operating and providing the app. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to anything you upload and that people depicted have consented.
5. Acceptable Use & Prohibited Content
You agree not to upload or share content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, exploitative of minors, infringing, or otherwise objectionable, and you are solely responsible for ensuring your use complies with all applicable laws. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We provide in-app tools to report content and block users, and we act on reports and remove violating content within 24 hours. We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these rules, deny access, or report misconduct to the relevant authorities.
6. App Stores & In-App Purchases
If you obtain or use the app through a third-party app store (such as the Apple App Store or Google Play), your use is also subject to that store’s terms, which prevail over these Terms in the event of a conflict with respect to store usage. For copies obtained through the Apple App Store, your use is also governed by Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (EULA), incorporated here by reference. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Service or any claims relating to it.
Any purchases, subscriptions, or in-app purchases are processed by the relevant app store under its own terms and payment methods. Subscriptions, where offered, renew automatically unless cancelled, and are charged to and managed through your app store account (for Apple, via your Apple ID in App Store settings). You can cancel a subscription at any time through your app store account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

7. Account Termination & Suspension
You may delete your account at any time using the in-app Delete Account option or by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably consider inappropriate, offensive, or in violation of these Terms, without that giving rise to any claim for compensation. Some data may be retained as required by law or as described in our Privacy.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service and all of its content other than User Content — including software, design, text, graphics, logos, and trademarks — are owned by SideQuest or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws and international treaties. Nothing in these Terms transfers any such rights to you except for the limited licence granted above.
9. Third-Party Services
The Service may rely on or link to third-party resources and services. We are not responsible for third-party resources, and your use of them is governed by their own terms. See our Privacy Policy for the providers we use to operate the Service.
10. Service Availability & Changes
We may interrupt, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any part of it for maintenance, updates, or other changes, with appropriate notice where reasonably possible. We are not liable for any unavailability of the Service, and within the limits of the law we will help you withdraw your data where applicable.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SideQuest and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for damage to life, health, or physical integrity, or arising from intent or gross negligence.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SideQuest and its operators and affiliates from any claims or demands made by third parties arising out of or in connection with your culpable violation of these Terms or of third-party rights.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect from the date they are communicated or posted. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, you should stop using the Service.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Estonia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Estonia, unless otherwise required by mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
